Man arrested after objects thrown at Reform leader

A man has been arrested after throwing objects at Nigel Farage as he traveled through Barnsley town center on an open-top bus.

The Reform party leader was acknowledging cheers from the crowd when something struck the side of the vehicle.

Mr. Farage raised his arm as he noticed the object flying towards him, but it missed.

Video footage showed a man throwing another object from a construction site bin before being restrained by individuals in high-visibility vests. He attempted to flee but was apprehended by police.

Mr. Farage stated he believed he was targeted with wet cement and a coffee cup. “My huge thanks to South Yorkshire Police today,” he wrote on X.

“I will not be bullied or intimidated by a violent left-wing mob who hate our country.”

Police reported that a 28-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of public order offenses, believing the suspect threw objects from a “nearby construction area.”

This incident follows a similar one last week in Clacton, Essex, where a woman threw a milkshake at Mr. Farage. He is contesting the upcoming election in that constituency.

Mr. Farage, who previously decided against standing in the election, is now the leader of the Reform Party and aims to become an MP on his eighth attempt.
