The Glastonbury festival has unveiled its complete line-up, with the final performers joining the roster ahead of the five-day extravaganza set to commence later this month.
The Other Stage, the festival’s second-largest venue, will feature performances by Nigerian pop sensation Tems and indie rock group The Zutons.
Dua Lipa, Coldplay, and SZA were previously confirmed as the headliners for The Pyramid stage.
Country pop icon Shania Twain is slated to grace the festival’s renowned Pyramid Stage during the Sunday afternoon “legends slot”.
The line-up also includes new additions such as Scottish indie band The Snuts, singer Jamie Webster from Liverpool, rock pair Soft Play, and upcoming talent Rachel Chinouriri.
The bill boasts a host of female stars including Little Simz, Avril Lavigne, Jessie Ware, Janelle Monae, Cyndi Lauper, PJ Harvey, and Camila Cabello, alongside Dua Lipa, SZA, and Twain. This marks the first time that two of the three headline acts are women, highlighting the strong female presence in the line-up.
This comes as a response to last year’s criticism for featuring all-male headliners, which included Arctic Monkeys, Guns ‘N’ Roses, and Sir Elton John, who gave his final UK performance.
The announcement on Tuesday also provided the schedule for all artists, talks, and events throughout the festival.
So, who else is performing and when?
The Pyramid Stage will kick off on Friday at noon with rock band Squeeze, followed by emerging artist Olivia Dean, K-pop ensemble Seventeen, and vocalist Paul Heaton.
PJ Harvey and LCD Soundsystem will set the stage for Dua Lipa’s debut on the Pyramid Stage as she headlines Friday night.
Friday’s other highlights include performances by D-Block Europe and Idles on the Other Stage, with Jungle headlining West Holts and Fontaines DC leading the Park Stage.
Saturday will see the main stage host Nigerian artists Femi Kuti and Ayra Starr, followed by ’80s US hitmaker Cyndi Lauper and rock group Keane.
Michael Kiwanuka, a Mercury Prize winner, and British rapper Little Simz will also perform on the Pyramid Stage before Coldplay takes the headline spot.
This will be Coldplay’s first appearance on the Pyramid Stage since 2016, making them the first act to headline Glastonbury five times.
The Other Stage’s Saturday line-up features Brit rising star winners The Last Dinner Party, US vocalist Camila Cabello, and electronic pair Disclosure.
The final day will begin with a performance by Interlinked Ballet on the main stage, followed by afternoon performances by Seasick Steve and Paloma Faith.
Shania Twain will then take the stage, expected to perform her hits like Man! I Feel Like A Woman!, You’re Still The One, and That Don’t Impress Me Much during the legends slot.
The evening session will feature US singer and actress Janelle Monae and Nigerian artist Burna Boy, before US sensation SZA concludes the Pyramid Stage performances with her hits Saturn and Kill Bill.
Sunday’s line-up on the Other Stage includes US star Avril Lavigne, Northern Irish group Two Door Cinema Club, and US rock band The National.
The festival is known for its surprise acts, and this year will be no exception, with a few secret performances expected, including a “TBA” slot at 6pm on Saturday on the Woodsies stage.
In the past, surprise performances have been given by acts such as the Foo Fighters, The Killers, and Radiohead.
The festival will also honor the late DJ Annie Nightingale, BBC Radio 1’s first female presenter, who passed away in January at the age of 83.
Tickets for this year’s Glastonbury sold out in less than an hour when they were released in November. A resale of any returned or cancelled tickets in April was sold out in a mere 22 minutes.
The festival, which will host over 3,000 acts and approximately 200,000 attendees, is scheduled to run from June 26 to June 30.
