Irish comedian and actress Aisling Bea has revealed that she is pregnant with her first child.
The 40-year-old shared the exciting news on Instagram, posting a series of photos of herself performing as a backup dancer for Sheryl Crow at a charity event in Kansas City, prominently displaying her baby bump.
A brief video showcased her dancing on stage at Big Slick ’24 with American comedian Seth Herzog. Both were seen dancing with their bare bellies exposed, adorned with cartoon faces drawn in black pen.
The photos also featured several other celebrities, including Marvel actor Paul Rudd and American football player Travis Kelce, known for dating Taylor Swift.
In a humorous caption, Bea wrote: “Dignity Intact. Became pregnant to try and make Paul Rudd look older”.
She expressed gratitude to her fellow celebrities for “assisting me in flaunting my bump in the most dignified and classy manner possible,” adding, “Sheryl agreed that Seth and I could be her very professional backup dancers with our silly idea. How fitting! She truly just wants to have fun, y’all.”
Bea also thanked her partner, composer and producer Jack Freeman, and actress Elsie Hewitt “for the full bump glam and to one of them specifically for making me pregnant in the first place”.
She humorously cautioned that the pens used to draw the faces lasted “about two days”, for fans considering the commitment to such an idea.
Several stars, including Nicola Coughlan from Bridgerton, comedian Nish Kumar, and actress Sally Phillips, were quick to congratulate her.
Bea later clarified in her post, writing: “Yes, I am pregnant. This time it’s not a bread joke.”
In 2021, Bea had to clarify to fans who had misinterpreted a photo she posted of her bloated stomach after consuming too much bread, as some had congratulated her on her “bump”.
Bea is the creator and star of the comedy show This Way Up, and has made appearances in Taskmaster, Doctor Who, and panel shows like QI and 8 Out of 10 Cats.
