Cardi B: Police in Las Vegas drop battery investigation after microphone throw at beach club

Police in Las Vegas, Nevada, have issued a statement after reviewing the case, which was reported by a woman the day after Cardi B’s performance at Drai’s Beachclub in the city.

Police in Las Vegas have dropped a criminal battery investigation after rapper Cardi B was reported for throwing a microphone at an audience member.

The incident took place after a woman in the crowd appeared to splash a drink on the star as she was performing her hit Bodak Yellow on stage at Drai’s Beachclub.

Clips showing Cardi B throwing a mic – also shared by the rapper herself – went viral on social media at the end of July.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said a woman reported a battery case to the force the day after the concert.

However, the force has now issued a statement saying no charges will be filed.

“After a thorough review of this case and with the consultation from the Clark County district attorney’s office, this case has been closed as having insufficient evidence,” the statement read.

Several high-profile artists have been hit by objects while performing on stage in recent months.

Adele warns fans about throwing items on stage in the past.

In June, Bebe Rexha shared pictures of her black eye after she was hit by a mobile phone, and footage of a fan throwing their mother’s ashes at Pink in London quickly went viral.

In another incident, country singer Kelsea Ballerini had to stop mid-performance after a concertgoer threw an unknown object at her face.

Harry Styles has also been hit by flying objects at his gigs, including Skittles – which hit him in the eye and led to the sweets brand making a public plea on social media.
